Best viewing : There are spectacular viewing opportunities throughout Algonquin Provincial Park along the Highway 60 Corridor and other access points, such as the Park's trails and day use areas. Obtain your daily vehicle permit up to five days in advance to guarantee your access to the park. Please use designated parking areas. Do not park on the side of the road, which is dangerous and illegal.

ARROWHEAD

Best viewing : Check out Big Bend Lookout, Beach Area #1, or the Arrowhead Lake Trail for spectacular fall colours.

BALSAM LAKE

Colour Change : 60 - Leaf Fall : 30
Best viewing : We recommend visitors walk through the closed Cedar and Maple campgrounds to enjoy the beautiful maple trees in those areas. Visitors will enjoy the Lookout Trail as portions of the trail have Staghorn Sumac that will soon start to turn a beautiful vibrant red.

BASS LAKE

Best viewing : The fall colours are especially beautiful all along our hiking trail leading along the water and through the forest.

EARL ROWE

Best viewing : The best spots to view fall colours is by hiking the Lookout Trail and walking through the Meadowbrook and Trillium Woods campgrounds.

Best viewing : The best fall colour viewing spot in the park is along the Trans Canada Trail. Please note that reservations are required to guarantee your access to the park.

KILLBEAR

Best viewing : The best fall colours can be seen along the main park road, the Recreational Trail, and the Lookout Point Trail. Colours usually peak around Thanksgiving weekend but stay surprisingly strong throughout October due to the golden glow of the American Beech trees.

MONO CLIFFS

Best viewing : The best spot to view fall colours is by hiking along the Cliff-Top Side Trail. Please note that reservations are required to guarantee your access to the park.

OASTLER LAKE

Best viewing : Hardwood Hill Campground and the Pet Exercise Area offer excellent views of the lake and fall colours.

SAMUEL de CHAMPLAIN

Best viewing : Driving the main road through the park is an easy and accessible way to view reds, yellows, and oranges as the aspens, oaks, and maples start to turn. Campion Portage is another good spot to view the colours along the Mattawa River from shore. If you have a canoe, or rent one form the Park Store, paddling from Campion to the Gut will give you good views of mixed wood forests. The Wabashkiki Trail is a good spot to catch early fall colours in September.

STURGEON BAY

Best viewing : Sit back, relax, and take in the breathtaking views of the fall colours along the shores of Georgian Bay right from the beautiful beach! If you have a motorboat, canoe, or kayak, check out the forested shores of Sturgeon Bay. 

WASAGA BEACH

Best viewing : Visitors to Wasaga Beach can enjoy the fall colours by taking a stroll through any of our beach areas and viewing the colours around Georgian Bay. The Nordic and Trail Centre also offers great opportunities for a fall hike with spectacular colours from an oak and maple dominant forest.
