Colts reunite 300-point line in blockbuster trade

The Barrie Colts finalized a trade with the North Bay Battalion on Sunday, acquiring Anthony Romani and Owen Van Steensel in exchange for Parker Vaughan, Zach Wigle and four conditional draft picks.
Romani, a 19-year-old forward, scored 58 goals and totalled 111 points with the Battalion last year. He was selected in the sixth round, 162nd overall by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.
Van Steensel is a 20-year-old forward in his final OHL season. He has 13 goals and 26 points in 36 games so far this year after totals of 41 goals and 86 points in 65 games last year.
“It’s an exciting time for the coaching staff and our fans. Anthony and Owen are two highly regarded players in our league who have accomplished a lot,” said Marty Williamson, the Colts head coach and general manager, in a news release on the team's website. “We’re excited to add both of them to our group and welcome them to Barrie.”

The forwards are now reunited with Dalyn Wakely, their former Battalion linemate. The trio combined for a total of 138 goals and 301 points for North Bay last season.
Wigle had spent his entire OHL career with the Colts. The 20-year-old forward has 29 goals and 69 points through 173 OHL games.
Vaughan, a 16-year-old forward, totalled four goals and seven points in 32 games with Barrie this season.
The Colts also sent a 2027 fourth round pick, a 2027 fifth round pick, a 2027 sixth round pick and a 2028 seventh round pick (all conditional) to the Battalion.
