A 21-year-old Barrie man who had a warrant issued for his arrest was caught by police on Wednesday evening at the south end Walmart.
Officers were called to the store on Bayfield Street around 9:20 p.m. after receiving a report of a theft in progress.
When Barrie police arrived they were told by the store’s loss prevention officers the man had removed security tags from electronic items and put them in a bag he took from the sporting goods department.
Police say as the man tried to leave the store without paying but was stopped by the loss prevention officers.
The man was turned over to police and further investigation found he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for a theft in November.
