Barrie magic mushroom dispensary closed after company announces its shuttering Ont. locations
The doors are locked and the open sign is off at an illegal magic mushroom dispensary in downtown Barrie one day after FunGuyz announced it would shutter its 30 Ontario locations.
The Dunlop Street location had a yellow sticky note taped to the front door Friday with the words “Back TMW” written in pencil.
It's unclear if the downtown location will reopen Saturday, but in a phone interview with CTV News, an individual identifying himself as “Mr. FunGuyz” or “James Smith," said the locations would be closed as of Monday.

FunGuyz, which calls itself the largest magic mushroom dispensary in Canada, said it made the decision to close after more than 100 police raids at its locations across Ontario.
In Simcoe County, FunGuyz opened three stores in 2023 in Barrie, Bradford and Wasaga Beach.
The FunGuyz store in Bradford West Gwillimbury permanently closed last year after police raids, and the store in Wasaga Beach was quickly closed after town officials said the owner didn’t have a business licence and was operating illegally.
Provincial police warn the public that selling, distributing, possessing, and producing psilocybin, also known as magic mushrooms, is prohibited in Canada unless authorized by Health Canada.
