2 women hospitalized after being struck by vehicle, police seek witnesses

Police are investigating a collision in Newmarket that sent two women to the hospital over the weekend.

York Regional Police say the two pedestrians were struck by a vehicle Saturday shortly before 8 p.m. in the intersection of Prospect Street and Davis Drive.

A 70-year-old woman remains in the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and a 49-year-old woman was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Police confirmed the driver remained at the scene of the collision.

No other injuries were reported.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash camera footage of the collision to contact the Major Collision Unit at 1-866-876-5423 ext. 7704.
