Armed and barricaded person in Barrie, Ont., immediate area evacuated
Police have evacuated an area in Barrie’s north end on Tuesday after reports of an active shooter in a mobile home.
Officers are investigating and have blocked a significant area of Bayfield Street near Heather Street.
Barrie police posted a tweet on Tuesday just past noon, after they received information about a possible firearm in a vehicle in a parking lot on Bayfield Street.

Officials told CTV News that at least one gunshot was fired.
Tactical vehicles rammed a white RV located in a parking lot, and police tell CTV News the suspect is barricaded inside. By the evening OPP officers were also on scene, with a Barrie Police spokesperson confirming provincial officers had been called in to provide relief.
Workers at nearby businesses say the RV has been in the parking lot for at least a month.

Crisis negotiators have been called to the scene, and officials say contact has been made with the person in the vehicle.
No injuries have been reported.
Officials are asking the public to avoid the area to allow the investigation to proceed.
A hold and secure implemented at Cundles Heights Public School, the Barrie Learning Centre, and Simcoe Shores Secondary School was lifted by police shortly after 3 p.m.
A member of Simcoe County District School Board said parents were notified by email that the school was in a hold and secure and also notified when it was lifted.
In an updated report posted by Barrie police at 6 p.m. officials stated, "Barrie police will remain on scene as long as needed, with the primary focus being on the safety of the community, the individual and the officers."
The impacted areas include Chestnut Court, Rosedale Place, Aspen Drive, and portions of Springdale Drive and Farmingdale Crescent.
