$7.2 million reconstruction project on Laclie Street complete
The second phase of the $7.2 million reconstruction project in Orillia has wrapped.
“Improving roads and infrastructure is a key priority for Council. Completing the second phase of the Laclie Street Reconstruction project is a major update to a key roadway in our community and an exciting milestone for Orillia,” said Mayor Don McIsaac.
During Phase two of the project, road reconstruction and infrastructure replacements were completed.
The replacement took place on Laclie Street from Borland Street to Parkhurst Crescent and included the installation of a new watermain, sanitary and stormwater sewers, new sidewalks, and new traffic signals along North Street.
Orillia' s Laclie Street took the number 10 spot in CAA Worst Road for 2024’s competition. CAA Worst Roads lists provides an important citizen perspective on which roadway repairs need to be expedited and key priorities for infrastructure funding and investments moving forward.

Now that the street has reopened to traffic, the city says the Orillia Transit Laclie bus will revert back to the original route beginning on Nov. 20. Commuters can learn more about their travels and see the full bus schedule here.
Crews began phase two back in May of this year. Over the past few months, the city had set up signage and speed deterrents to slow down drivers.
Residents say they tried to avoid the road but admit it's just part of the growth and repair of the aging city.
