Emergency crews are searching a section of Lake Simcoe after police received a distress call late Wednesday night.
Search and rescue crews from CFB Trenton and York Regional Police were notified of the distress call at around 11 p.m.
The call came in from a boater who said their vessel was taking on water somewhere in the Cook’s Bay area.
Trenton dispatched crews, including a helicopter and a C-130 Hercules airplane. YRP also sent their marine unit to conduct a search on the water.
Crews spent several hours searching on Thursday, but didn't find anything.
Police say what is baffling about this case is that nobody has been reported missing and none of the local marinas have vehicles in their lots that should be there.
“At this point we don't know exactly what we're looking for. It could be an inflatable. It could be a sail boat,” says Const. Ian Aho.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
