Simcoe Muskoka saw its first signs of snow of the season Sunday morning, with a mix of flurries and rain leading to worsening road conditions and police reporting multiple collisions.

According to Huronia West OPP, officers responded to six weather-related collisions between 8:30 and 9:40 a.m. in the Township of Springwater. Locations of the collisions included Highway 400, County Road 92, Bayfield Street and Crossland Road.

As of Sunday afternoon, Environment Canada has not issued any weather advisories for the region. However, the national weather agency is forecasting for flurries or rain showers to continue in Barrie until mid-afternoon, with temperatures reaching highs of three degrees during the day and lows of minus-four overnight.

Police are urging drivers to exercise caution amid rapid changes to weather and road conditions.
