Kidnapping charge withdrawn against man accused in Elnaz Hajtamiri case
The charges against one of the men accused of kidnapping Ontario woman Elnaz Hajtamiri nearly three years ago were withdrawn and stayed by the Crown in a Collingwood courtroom this month.
Adams Ankamah, 30, of Brampton was one of several people accused in the January 2022 abduction of Hajtamiri.
Investigators believe Hajtamiri was forcibly removed from a Wasaga Beach home by suspects posing as police claiming to have a warrant for her arrest.
Her former boyfriend, Mohamad Lilo, has been charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping in her disappearance.
Hajtamiri hasn't been seen or heard from since. Police have said they believe she is dead.

Ankamah’s lawyer, Richard Fedorowicz, said his client is relieved by the withdrawal and staying of charges that were laid in May 2023.
The allegations against the accused have not been tested in court.
