Blue Mountain Resort, Horseshoe Resort, Snow Valley, Mount St. Louis Moonstone and Hidden Valley Highlands were all making snow on Monday.
This is good news as some hills haven’t been able to open so far this season, while others have opened for only a short period.
Horseshoe Resort says its snowmaking staff and groomers are working hard to capitalize on the snow Mother Nature is sending our way.
“Our snowmaking team is around the clock, grooming team around the clock, we have two shifts that come in and keep the system running,” says Jonathan Reid at Horseshoe.
Horseshoe had one run open over the holidays and now has a goal of making at least 30 centimetres of snow and opening a number of runs on Tuesday.
“We’ve focused everything on three runs to try and get a good solid base and we can open. We’re anticipating opening tomorrow morning at 9 o’clock with three runs and two lifts,” adds Reid.
Snowmaking machines at Blue Mountain Resort have been going around the clock too! And while the resort does have some beginner runs open, they’re still uncertain as to when other runs will be opened.
“As far as a goal goes, we’re trying to have something ready for Saturday, this weekend but again we’re at the mercy of Mother Nature,” says Peter Sutcliffe with Blue Mountain Resort.
Hidden Valley in Huntsville will have one run open on Tuesday for skiers, while Snow Valley is expecting to be open Thursday or Friday. Mount St. Louis Moonstone is trying for Saturday.
