Housing sales continued to rise in Barrie, but were down in some surrounding communities last month.
According to the Barrie & District Association of Realtors, detached residential properties posted an average selling price of $394,219 in Decmber. That is an increase of 6% from the same time last year. The 2015 year-to-date average selling price of a detached home in the City of Barrie was $380,944, a 9% increase over the same period 2014.
Residential Townhouse, Link and Semi-Detached homes posted an average selling price of $277,97, an increase of 14% from December 2014. The year-to-date selling price was $273,302, a 7.5% increase over 2014.
Condominium sales activity in Barrie also increased by 13% at $224, 540. The 2015 year-to-date average selling price was $230,419, a 3% increase from the previous year.
In Innisfil, detached residential properties posted an average selling price of $358,100, an increase of 2% over the month of December 2014. The 2015 year-to-date average selling price was $393,439, a 4% increase for the same time period last year.
The average selling price for detached residential properties in Oro-Medonte in December 2015 was $484,653, an increase of 35% from the same time last year. The 2015 year-to-date average selling price was $485,962, a 16% increase over 2014.
Detached residential homes in Springwater Township posted an average selling price in December 2015 of $493,429, a 28% increase over December 2014. Year-to-date average selling price to the end of December 2015 was $521,134, a 22% increase over the same time period last year.
However, the average selling price for a detached residential properties dropped signifcantly in Essa Township. The average price for December 2015 was $302,53, a decrease of -48% compared to December 2014. The 2015 year-to-date average selling price of a detached home in Essa was $390,475, a 7% increase over the same period 2014.
