A baby boy was born in Orillia on New Year’s Eve in dramatic fashion.

His mom, Tara Smith-Hobson, and dad, Ron Black of Orillia, had gone to Soldiers’ Memorial but went home because the baby wasn’t ready to be born.

However, Jacob Roy Clare Black had other ideas. A few hours later mom’s labour got serious and she and dad rushed back to the hospital but Jacob was born right outside the hospital doors.

The staff rushed to help and made sure mom and baby was okay after their very chilly arrival.
