Caledon OPP says officers responded to three incidents of wheel separation on June 6, 2021.

The first happened at approximately 7:40 a.m. on highway 410 and Mayfield road where the front wheel of a grey van became dislodged while driving. Police say no one was injured and the investigation is ongoing.

The second incident happened on Charleston side road, where a front wheel came off of a different grey van.  A 35-year-old driver from Cambridge was charged with 'drive motor vehicle - part detached'.

The third incident happened at 3:30 p.m. on County Road 109, a rear tire separated from a black pickup truck and struck an SUV.  The 64-year-old driver from Wellesley was charged with 'drive motor vehicle - part detached' as a result.

According to police, all three drivers had recently changed their tires prior to the incident.  Caledon OPP is reminding drivers to return to the store to get tires retorqued within 80 kilometers of use, adding that retorquing allows for an inspection of each lug nut after torquing to ensure they are secure and not too loose or too tight on the wheel.
