Suspect charged for series of vehicle break-ins, credit card thefts

A Midland resident is facing numerous charges for allegedly breaking into numerous vehicles in Midland and using stolen cards.

According to Southern Georgian Bay OPP, officers responded to numerous calls between November 12 and November 20 about unlawful vehicle break-ins and unlawful use of credit cards removed from those vehicles.

Police add that the occurrences were reported in locations that included Fuller Avenue, Manly Street, Hugel Avenue, Bay Street and Ellen Street.

Upon investigating surveillance footage from several retail locations, police identified and arrested a suspect Wednesday evening.

A 28-year-old Midland resident was charged with four counts of stolen credit card use, four counts of possession obtained by crime under $5,000 and nine counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

The accused was released after a bail hearing and is scheduled for a December court date.
