Porch pirate in Barrie arrested

A 46-year-old man has been arrested after a porch pirate incident at a home in Barrie on Thursday.

According to police, at 12:49 p.m., officers received information that a man had removed a package from the porch of a home on Wellington Street East, east of Bayfield Street.

Police say soon after officers were able to locate the suspect near a business located at the southeast corner of Bayfield Street and Wellington Street East, where he was opening the package that had been stolen.

The suspect from Barrie was taken into custody and arrested for Theft under $5000.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court in December.
