The warm and sunny start to the Thanksgiving long weekend has created a crunch on our highways.
Police have increased their roadside checks to keep things safe, and they've already pulled some drivers off the road.
Highway 400 heading north into Barrie today was packed with people heading to the cottage. Police were set up all along the way to check for seatbelts, distracted driving, and impaired driving. Even on the less busy routes, South Simcoe Police was out watching for bad habits.
They administered some random roadside tests this afternoon resulting in a few drivers being pulled off the road on the spot.
Local and provincial police detachments will continue their random spot checks and speed traps all weekend.
