One dead in hit-and-run involving transport truck on Highway 26
Police are investigating an alleged hit-and-run after an individual was found dead at the side of the road in Springwater Township early Wednesday morning.
Provincial police say a male was found along Highway 26 between Hanmer Street East in Barrie and Carson Road sometime around 2:30 a.m.

They say the fatal incident involved the pedestrian and a transport truck, adding no other vehicles were located at the scene.
Police closed a section of Highway 26 for the investigation. It reopened around 11 a.m. Wednesday.
The identities of the victim and driver have not been released.
It's unclear if any charges will be laid.
Police encourage witnesses or anyone with information on the incident, including dash camera footage that could help investigators, to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
