Parents and students were busy at Harriet Todd Public School in Orillia on Monday, but not for class.

The group was busy trying to erase hateful messagesthey say was left behind by vandals over the long weekend.

“I couldn’t believe it. I was shocked,” says Tiffany Robertson. “We walked the whole school area and I took pictures because I couldn’t believe it.”

Thousands of dollars is estimated to have been done by the graffiti, including damage to the school’s security system and intercom.

Pictures of the vandalism was shared on social media, which led to parents like Robert Kloostra to take action and clean up the school before classes start on Tuesday.

“Everybody’s kids are from the neighbourhood, and it’s great that everybody cares so much about the school,” says Kloostra.

Some parents told CTV News that an arrest was made. However, police were not able to confirm that information.
