Owen Sound Police laid charges against a retired high school teacher on Thursday in connection with an alleged relationship with a former student.
Police say 59-year-old Gene Cassidy was charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, sexual exploitation and unlawfully being in a dwelling.
They say the charges stem from a relationship he had with a former student at Owen Sound Collegiate and Vocational Institute.
Cassidy is listed as a convenor with the 2014-2015 Boys AA Basketball Championship on the Central Western Ontario Secondary Schools Association website.
That tournament was jointly hosted by OSCVI on February 26 and 27.
