One person has died after an early morning apartment fire in Parry Sound.
The fire started shortly after 1:30 a.m. Friday morning at a building containing three apartments on Parry Sound Road.
Parry Sound fire and the OPP attended the scene and the fire was extinguished but a body was discovered in one of the apartments.
The fire chief says the buidling was fully engulfed by the time emergency crews arrived and the age the building was also a factor for how quickly the fire spread.
"The structure is an old structure, as well with multiple roofs," said Parry Sound fire chief Dave Thompson.
There is no word if the victim is male or female. An autopsy will be performed in Toronto.
At this point, there is no damage estimate and investigators don't know if there were working smoke alarms.
The Ontario Fire Marshal is investigating and is expected to be on scene for the next several days.
