Motorcyclist, 48, killed, another seriously injured in Orillia collision with SUV

Provincial police are investigating a deadly weekend crash involving a motorcycle and SUV in Orillia.

The collision happened Saturday around 1:30 p.m. at Colborne Street and West Street North.

"Upon arrival, officers observed a vehicle with considerable damage, a motorcycle on its side and debris all over the road," OPP stated in a press release on Tuesday.

Police report two people were on the motorcycle at the time of the crash, including a 48-year-old man who was pronounced dead at the scene. Another person was flown via air ambulance Ornge to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

At the time of the deadly collision, police say an event was happening in the downtown area. They ask any witnesses or anyone with video footage of the crash are encouraged to contact the authorities at 1-888-310-1122.
