Five Collingwood residents were arrested and a loaded handgun seized following an early morning police raid on Thursday.

According to provincial police, the arrests were in connection with a drug trafficking investigation launched earlier this summer by the Collingwood and Blue Mountains OPP Community Street Crime Unit.

Officers searched a Katherine Street residence around 3 a.m. after obtaining a warrant and located the five people inside.

Police allegedly seized cocaine, fentanyl, a loaded handgun, expandable batons, and $855 in cash.

Three women and two men face charges and are scheduled to appear in court.
