The jury in the Matthew Spring second degree murder trial in Barrie will resume its deliberations on Thursday morning.

They retired for the night early Wednesday evening after a full day of deliberations.

Spring is charged with second degree murder in the death of Bradley Hubbard, who was killed at a Barrie mini-golf course in 2011.

The defence has argued that Spring was acting in self-defence, and that he was trying to save his brother’s life.

The jury is tasked with deciding whether there was “intent to kill”.

Until they reach a unanimous verdict, jurors will not be allowed to discuss the case with others or talk to each other outside of the boardroom where their deliberations have been taking place.

They are also not allowed to watch or read the news for the duration of their deliberations.
