Fatal cyclist crash in Thornbury

Emergency services were called to a serious collision involving a car and a cyclist.

Provincial police say the cyclist was struck by the vehicle on Highway 26 between 11 Line and 10 Line in Thornbury shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday.

Police say the 59-year-old cyclist was declared dead at Meaford General Hospital.

The driver of the car was co-operative with police during the investigation.

A section of Highway 26 was closed for several hours between the 11 Line and 10 Line.

The investigation is ongoing.

OPP asks if anyone in the area during the time of the collision has information, dash cam or surveillance footage that may assist investigators, to call Collingwood OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
