Students evacuated during Barrie high school fire

Share

Almost 1,000 students were sent scrambling into the -10C air after a fire broke out at their school.

Barrie firefighters rushed to Innisdale Secondary School around 1 p.m. Thursday.

“Crews encountered a small fire that has been extinguished, and (we) are ventilating now,” said Deputy Fire Chief Eric MacFadden from the scene.

Students hurried across the parking lot to the Allandale Recreation Centre for warmth as the fire was investigated.

McFadden said a fire extinguisher had been used to douse the flames of the washroom fire before the firefighters arrived.

There were no injuries reported.
