The Town of Innisfil has launched a free farm safety check program with the goal of giving property owners peace of mind.
Innisfil Fire & Rescue Services will inspect local properties that include barns and large farming-related structures to assist owners in safety checking their properties. The inspections are free of charge.
The Fire Safety Check service includes: a property walk-through fire inspection, creating a fire response pre-plan of the facility, and developing an action plan to correct any fire concerns that may be found.
“Keeping our community safe is our number one priority, and partnering with our community is a responsible way to prevent fires,” explained Innisfil Fire Chief Jon Pegg. “By sharing our fire expertise with residents and property owners at their location, we can work together to make their facilities and buildings safer for the equipment, supplies and livestock they housed.”
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has a useful checklist that can help identify the risk of fire on a farm.
For information on this program and to set up an appointment, Innisfil residents and property owners are asked to call IFRS headquarters at 705-436-2763.
