A Gravenhurst beach is closed after an unidentified substance was found in the water.

The town closed the beach promptly on Friday after the substance was discovered at Gull Lake.

An investigation by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit shows that E.coli levels are acceptable for swimming, but officials are waiting for test results to come back from the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change.

Until more information comes from the ministry, the beach will remain closed.
