While the Formula 1 cars roar around the circuit in Montreal this weekend, there’s a different sort of grand prix happening in Wasaga Beach.

Hundreds of people are in the town this weekend for the first-ever go-kart grand prix. The Roar By The Shore go-karting event is happening all weekend features races at a beachfront track.

A few roads have been closed to make room for the street course, and there are also car exhibits for people to enjoy and some past racers sharing their experiences.

Organizers say kart racing draws crowds from all over North America.

There’s a qualifying session happening this afternoon from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and then a night race 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tomorrow, events start at 9 a.m. with a practice session and then the racing really gets going at 1 p.m.
