A cottage north of Port Severn on Gloucester Pool  has been destroyed by fire this afternoon.

The fire started just before 4 p.m. July 8, 2013 and consumed a cottage.

Severn Fire Chief Eric Dowell says the lakefront cottage was on Pappy Gill Lane.

The fire was brought under control by 17 firefighters on the scene; the cottage is a total loss. Small outbuildings were protected. Some trees were lost. No one was hurt in the blaze, and no one was home at the time the fire broke out.

It’s a seasonal property, and somewhat remote. Dowell says it was difficult to get firefighters to the scene.
