Midland man accused of attempted murder, fleeing R.I.D.E. program denied bail
A 25-year-old Midland man accused of attempted murder related to an alleged hit-and-run over the summer is back behind bars after being arrested over the holidays while out on bail.
Police charged Jake Willis on December 23 while officers were conducting R.I.D.E. checks on Heritage Drive between King Street and William Street in Midland after midnight.

Officers allege a vehicle veered into a factory parking lot to avoid the spot check. The driver reportedly fled on foot, running through the factory building.
Wallis was arrested a short time later and charged with failing to comply with a release order, along with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
Wallis had been out on bail following charges in August, where he was accused of attempted murder, dangerous driving causing bodily harm, and failing to stop at the scene of a crash involving a pedestrian in a convenience store parking lot.
Police say officers were called to the Midland Avenue parking lot on August 24 for what they believed was a hit-and-run that left a pedestrian seriously injured.
Police say it appeared both the driver and pedestrian had left the scene before officers arrived.
Wallis was arrested later and subsequently released on bail under strict conditions.
On Tuesday, one week after the R.I.D.E. check incident, Wallis was denied bail.
The allegations against Wallis have not been tested in court. He is scheduled to make his next court appearance in January from jail in Penetanguishene.
