Firefighters in Bracebridge were called to battle a blaze at a private waste management facility early Wednesday morning.

Officials say the call came in just before 4 a.m., and crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from a large outdoor pile of refuse roughly 10,000 square feet in size at the Rosewarne Drive facility.

The Ministry of Environment and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office attended the scene.

Firefighters were still at the property late Wednesday afternoon.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

No injuries were reported.
