Police in South Simcoe laid charges against a commercial vehicle driver following a traffic stop on Tuesday.

A 43-year-old driver from Bradford was issued four charges after the commercial vehicle he was operating was pulled over on County Road 4 in Innisfil.

Police say the offences were related to the vehicle licences, weight and fitness requirements.

The driver was also handed a licence suspension for the presence of drugs, according to police.

“Commercial vehicle drivers are prohibited from having any presence of alcohol, cannabis or other drugs detected by an oral fluid screening device when operating these types of vehicles,” South Simcoe police stated regarding the incident.

The service said officers conducted a second traffic stop involving another commercial vehicle about an hour later in the same area.

“An officer noticed a broken spring on the trailer,” police noted.

The vehicle was ultimately removed from service.
