A motorist accused of speeding 75 kilometres per hour over the posted limit in the Town of Mono through dense fog will have to explain their actions in court.

Provincial police say an officer clocked a vehicle travelling 155 km/h along Airport Road Wednesday morning.

Police noted the heavy fog and the speed were a dangerous combination.

Environment Canada warned that heavy fog was creating near-zero visibility making travel hazardous on Wednesday morning. For most of the area, the foggy conditions dissipated by early afternoon.

“Guess the only thing clearer than the fog in Mono is that this driver’s about to see their licence disappear faster than their ability to read road signs,” the OPP quipped in a social media post regarding the morning traffic stop.

The motorist was charged with stunt driving, which also carries an immediate vehicle impoundment at the owner’s expense.

“Please slow down,” police stated.
