E-bike owner assaulted during armed theft in Orillia: OPP

A man and a woman from Orillia face charges in connection with the violent theft of an e-bike on Sunday morning.

Provincial police say one suspect brandished a knife and assaulted the e-bike owner downtown before taking it.

Officers said they identified two suspects involved in the armed robbery and made the arrests later that day.

A 37-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man are charged with armed robbery and possession of property obtained by crime.

Additionally, the man is charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and failing to comply with probation and release orders.

The duo was held in police custody to await a bail hearing.
