Driver witnesses two early morning collisions along one sideroad

It was a busy morning on Sideroad 5 after a driver witnessed two collisions which police say were caused by poor road conditions.

On Thursday morning, South Simcoe Police officers were called to Sideroad 5 near Georgian Downs in Innisfil.

Officials say, a grey Buick was travelling southbound when it began to slide into the east side ditch landing on its roof.

Samah Othman with South Simcoe Police Services said the driver was able to exit the vehicle and was taken to a hospital as a precautionary.

At approximately the same time, police reported that a second vehicle, a white Chevrolet Malibu, with two passengers travelling in the same direction when it began to slide on black ice causing the vehicle to go into the west side ditch, where it  allegedly collided with a fence.

Officials say, the driver and passengers sustained zero injuries.

South Simcoe Police, Innisfil fire and rescue services, and ambulance were all on scene to assess the entirety of the incident.

Police closed the road during the collision investigation. The road has since been reopened.
