A man was charged after allegedly crashing into a parked OPP cruiser in Tay Township just after midnight on Sunday.

Police say he was heading east in his minivan on Highway 12 near Old Fort Road and struck the OPP cruiser that was parked on the eastbound side. Both vehicles sustained significant damage as a result of the collision.

The 31-year-old male driver from Penetanguishene was charged with impaired driving and his license was suspended for 90 days. He and his passenger both sustained minor injuries, but no officers were injured in the incident according to police.

Highway 12 was closed in the area as Southern Georgian Bay OPP and members of the OPP’s Technical Traffic Collision Investigators team investigated the scene. The area reopened after a six-hour closure.
