Disabled car catches fire, causes traffic disruptions along Hwy 11

Black smoke billowed from a disabled vehicle fire in what is known as Gasoline Alley Sunday night.

Emergency crews were called to the scene on Highway 11 in Oro-Medonte shortly before 6 p.m.

Police reported Highway 11 northbound would be closed between Line 2 and Line 3 in Shanty Bay following the fire.

A cautionary OPP X reported “Highway closed, expect delays” at 6:34 p.m.

Provincial police called the Ministry of Transportation to assist with the investigation.

The highway was reopened at 1:20 a.m. Monday.
