Christmas Trees sold to support palliative care
A tree lot was hosted at Meridian Place in Barrie this weekend where volunteers sold Christmas trees in support of Hospice Simcoe.
Trees were priced at $80 while wreaths were priced at $40.
“We are a ten-bed residency and we run mainly on donations so all of our food all of the building stuff its [mostly from] donations,” said Sara Brown a tree lot volunteer and personal support worker for Hospice Simcoe. “It’s things like this that bring in those donations and connect us with our community.”
Brown adds that Hospice Simcoe supports both palliative patients as well as their families, providing compassionate care and services for those facing life-limiting illnesses.
According to their 2023 newsletter, the Hospice Simcoe Community and Bereavement team provided support to more than a thousand individuals over the previous fiscal year.
