A 40-year-old Beeton woman has died after a crash involving two cars south of Tottenham Thursday morning.

The crash happened around 9:45 a.m. at the intersection of the 10th Sideroad and the 2nd Line. Police say one of the vehicles was almost ripped in half.

The woman, who was driving one of the cars, was ejected and pronounced dead on scene. The man, from Caledon, driving the other car suffered non-life threatening injuries and is in hospital in Newmarket.

Police say it was foggy at the time of the crash.

The accident happened just a few kilometres from last Friday's fatal crash that killed a young father on Tottenham road. The man's six-year-old daughter was taken to hospital in serious condition along with her pregnant mother. The mother has since been released but the girl still remains in hospital.

Two fatal crashes in the area have police concerned. Police have focused in on what they call the big four reasons for accidents; speed, impaired driving, distracted driving and seatbelt use.

Police say 51 of the 168 deaths on Ontario roads this year are the result of speed alone.

"People are not focused in on driving which is what they should. Maybe all these motor vehicle collisions are preventable so we just need to get back to the basic of driving and focusing on driving only."

The road was closed for several hours.
