Four schools in Barrie were placed underway hold and secure Monday afternoon while police searched for three robbery suspects.

Police responded to a robbery just after 1:00 p.m. in the area of of Ardagh Drive and Pass Court.

According to police, three men disguised with masks and allegedly armed with hand guns approached a U-Haul van parked on Pass Court. Two occupants in the van managed to flee, but police say a third man was forced from the driver’s seat and assaulted.

The three suspects fled on foot and remain at large.

The three suspects are described as two brown men and a white man. All three suspects were wearing masks.

Ferndale Woods Elementary School, Ardagh Bluffs Public School, St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School and Saint Catherine of Siena School were placed under hold and secure for approximately 25 minutes while police investigated.

Investigators believe this was not a random attack and insist there is no threat to public safety in the area.
