Barrie murder suspect released from hospital but remains in custody

The man charged in connection of the death of a man at a downtown Barrie rooming house on Sunday has been released from hospital but still remains in police custody.

Terrence Barrett, 29, was charged with second-degree murder after 55-year-old Milan Segota was killed in the rooming house on February 15^th.

Officers were called to the scene on Sunday around 11 p.m. Inside they located Segota in a hallway. Barrett is also accused of stabbing a 32-year-old woman in the arm. She was treated and released from hospital.

Police located Barrett a short time later and arrested him. Investigators say the suspect and the victims were to known to each other and were residents in the building.

On Friday, Barrett was released from the Royal Victoria Regional Heath Centre for an unrelated medical issue.

He was remanded into custody and is currently at a correctional facility in Penetanguishene.
