The organizers of an interactive and silent auction in Barrie hope to address increasing levels of homelessness and poverty by raising money to ensure resources are available to those most vulnerable.

The 'Home Sweet Home' Fundraiser aims to provide access to food, clothing and community support programs for individuals in need.

Barrie Families Unite and R&R Programs for Restoring Relationships are presenting the evening focused on awareness, personal growth, and entertainment.

"By addressing basic needs, we enable people to focus on rebuilding and strengthening their relationships, fostering a hopeful future," shared Nikki Glahn, the event's co-organizer.

Organizers hope the event raises $20,000 to support local residents.

Admission is $60, and tickets are still available.

Those in attendance can bid on items and professional services to enhance the home, including a $5,000 contractor job.

The Home Sweet Home Fundraiser will take place Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Traditions Banquet Hall at 142 John Street.
