The officers began searching and located a man who they say matched the suspect's description just over an hour later in a nearby plaza parking lot at Big Bay Point Road and Leggott Avenue.
He was taken into custody, and police say an airsoft firearm was seized. An airsoft is a replica gun designed to look and feel like the real thing, but despite being fake, the consequences of using a replica firearm in a threatening manner are serious.
The 40-year-old accused from Barrie is charged with uttering threats to cause death, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, using an imitation firearm in the commission of indictable offences, and carrying a concealed weapon.
He spent the night behind bars awaiting a bail hearing.
