A Canadian manufacturing company is planning to open two new plants in East Gwillimbury, with 500 new jobs.
Airstate Limited will manufacture custom-built heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration, and energy recovery equipment in a plant at the northeast corner of Green Lane and Highway 404.
“This is very big news for East Gwillimbury,” said Mayor Virginia Hackson. “I can tell you that in the last four years that I've been mayor we have had 800 new jobs in East Gwillumbury and that's precedent-setting. So this, having 500 come in, is incredible.”
Hackson also says the location of the new plants, right next to the newly expanded Highway 404, is ideal.
“It's a very big deal. What this does for us now is this will service land along the 404 and it's a kick-start to putting other industrial or employment lands in play as well,” she said.
The first phase of the plant will be operational by early 2017, and both office work and manufacturing jobs will be available.
