A barn fire on Thursday afternoon in Township of Georgian Bluffs claimed the lives of 17 horses.
The owner of the farm on Concession 2, east of Clavering, was plowing his driveway around 4:30 p.m. when he noticed the fire and called 9-1-1.
When fire crews arrived the barn was engulfed in flames but they managed to extinguish the fire.
Unfortunately seventeen horses died in the fire.
The owner of the farm, a 48-year-old man, was taken to hospital for smoke inhalation. He was treated and released.
The Inter-Township Fire Department continues to investigate the cause of the fire but it doesn't appear to be suspicious.
