A new campaign has kicked off this summer by the Ontario SPCA to make sure no pets are left in hot vehicles.
The "No Hot Pets" campaign has business owners all over the province, including in businesses in Barrie, signing up to let people know they are pet friendly.
"We want to ensure that people who are travelling with their pets have some options. Now they can stop and they can shop at some pet friendly businesses," says Natalie Rizzuti, OSPCA inspector.
"It's an unnecessary risk that people are taking by leaving their pet unattended in a vehicle. The temperatures even on a mild day can reach deadly temperatures for a dog to be left alone in a vehicle."
So far more than five hundred businesses have signed on and more are joining every day.
"I don't think there's any reason for a business not to allow the dogs in. It's just the norm. It shouldn't be something that's different. It should just be yeah, that's fine just come in with your pet," says Carolynn Yeates, Mhai O Mhai Beads.
