OPP say one person has died in a crash that also sparked a vehicle fire on Highway 11, just south of Gravenhurst.
According to investigators, a man was found dead inside the vehicle along a southbound stretch of the highway between Beiers Road and Luigi Road on Monday morning.
Police say the Pontiac Vibe was travelling along the highway when it left the road and struck a rock cut shortly after 10:30 a.m. Witnesses to the crash attempted to pull the man out, but the flames were too intense. It’s not yet known what caused the crash.
The southbound lanes of Highway 11 were closed for several hours, while the OPP technical traffic collision investigation unit probes the scene. It has since reopened.
