A man was rescued from Georgian Bay after a powerboat erupted into flames near Penetanguishene.
The man had to jump overboard on Wednesday after the boat became engulfed in flames. Witnesses report seeing plumes of black smoke near Tay Point, at around 10:30 a.m.
The man was in the water for quite some time before he was rescued by witnesses. He was wearing a life-jacket.
Fire officials say the man was taken to Georgian Bay General Hospital as a precaution.
The boat was destroyed by the fire and has since become beached. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
The investigation is ongoing.
