There were two more motorcycle crashes with serious injuries in our area yesterday.

They were among the several incidents police were called to on our roads Friday evening.

On Highway 400 southbound near the Duckworth Street exit in Barrie last night a man came off his motorcycle.  He was taken to RVH, then airlifted to a trauma centre in Toronto with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

And a motorcycle and three other vehicles were involved in a collision on Highway 26 west of Barrie in Springwater Township late yesterday.

The two people on the motorcycle were taken to hospital with serious injuries.  A person in one of the cars had minor injuries.  Crews also had to extricate a dog from one of the cars.  It was taken to a veterinarian for treatment.

Police have once again issued a warning to motorcycle riders to take it easy and ride carefully this weekend.

Meanwhile, police and firefighters had to respond to an SUV on fire on Highway 400 northbound.

It happened just as the driver was heading into Barrie through Innisfil.  Everyone in the SUV got out safely, including the family pets.  One lane was closed to traffic, which slowed traffic significantly for a while.
